- (continued from previous page)where the palace of Gabha na Gcleas stood They went into the palace and Jack learned a great many tricks When it was time for them to come back to Ireland again they got ready their ship and sailed away. When they landed in Ireland Jack's father was waiting for them. He had great welcome for them. "Now" said "Gabha na Gcleas, "if you let your son with me I will give you two hundred pounds and I give you God as a witness that I will bring him home in a year and a day and I will teach him one trick and twenty tricks and a trick over one". "Very well" said his father "I will let him with you," so they went away. Jack learned a great many tricks the second time also. When the year and the day had passed Jack and Gabha na Gcleas sailed back to Ireland and Jack's father was waiting for them as before. He was very proud to see them safe again "Well" said Gabha na Gcleas "I will give you three hundred pounds this time if you let your son with me and I will teach him one trick and twenty tricks and a trick over every one" but he did not give him God as witness(continues on next page)
