there is a fort or a cromlech. There are two or three big limestone rocks on the top of it. The rest of it is composed of earth. It is the only fort in the townland. Around it there is a mound which is supposed to have been a wall or a trench. It is right in the centre of a meadow.
There are many quarries in the townland and stones and gravel are very plentiful. Gravel is used for repairing the roads. The stones are very good for building. It is of them all the houses in Scumhall are built. The gravel is very easily got as it is near the surface. The stones are not so easily got.
There is an iron well in the southern part of the townland. Many people bring water from it, as it is very rich in iron. It is believed to be good for the health.
