    Potatoes set in Drills which are about 2 feet apart - the potatoes being about 1 foot apart in the drills. Farmyard manure. When stalks are over ground., They are "dressed", earth being drawn up to the tops of the Stalks. Later on they are "softened". Large potatoes are cut in "Sgiolláin" for seed. Most farmers now spray with Blue Stone & Washing Soda mixture though many do not.
    early potatoes are set in Early March. Late Potatoes may be sown up to mid-May - generally they are all sown before 1st May.
    ridges are made in newly broken "Báns", potatoes being sown 3 abreast in each ridge
    The first early potatoes, are dug from 15th to 30th June. and these are mostly Epicures or Leagues or Flounders.
