“The silver cup was offerd for sale in London last year.”
The silver cup was offerd for sale in London last year. It was given by Lord Creamourne for Monaghan races in 1813. This is the trophy Jackson and Jane ran and won for. The lower part of the cup is decorated with bands of honey suckle and laurel and the cup is surrounded by the figure of a horse. The cup weighs 120 ozs 17 clwt [?] and is 17 inches high. It was made by Paul Sorr in 1812.
Its appearance on the market conjurs up old memories about Ballybay where the song is still sung by the older generations- Collector
