  1. Every year the men and boys go around hunting the wren. They are called "Mummers". They dress in bags and wear false faces. They have fiddles and flutes with them. When they come to a house they dance and sing,
    "The wren" the wren" the King of "all birds"
    On Saint Stephen's Day it was caught in the furze"
    "Although it is small it's honour is great"
    "I pray you good people give us a treat"
    The money is divided equally among the men and boys and then they go to town and drink it.
    Long ago on Saint Brigid's Day it was the custom of the people of the place to go around from house to house with a bride "Boys and girls went around and the bride was dressed in little garments
