there dancing and feasting. Long ago the straw boys used to visit the house where the wedding used be held. They used be dressed in queer old clothes and used be warmly welcomed by the people of the house. The girls usually wear white or blue on their marriage day. After the boy and girl are married some of the boys friends and some of the girls friends race on horse from the chapel to the house where the wedding is held. If it is the boy's friends reach the house first the boy will live longest. If it is the girls friends reach the house first the girl will live longest. Those who reach the house usually get a bottle of whiskey. Many years ago the boy and girl used to ride on horseback, because there were no motors or common cars were very scarce and the girl used ride behind the boy. About a hundred years ago if a girl was caught outside the door she would be taken away and thrown into some lonely place. The old verse says:- Monday for health
    Tuesday for wealth
Wednesday the best day of all
    Thursday for losses
    Friday for crosses
    Saturday no day at all.
