- Saint Fionnacta is the patron Saint of this parish. His chapel is in the townland of Ballysheen about half a mile from the village. The ruins of the chapel can still be seen. The altar is still in good repair. The chalice and bell were thrown into the river by the Danes.
It is said that every seven years the bell can be heard . A stained glass picture is in our chapel. Before he died he blessed the place, and foretold that no one would get killed with lightning.- Collector
