  1. There are many customs in this district connected with some of the feasts for instance.
    On St. Stephens day boys and often men dress up in old clothes, ans put eye-fiddles on their faces. Then they get a bush and decorate it with coloured papers. Sometimes they have a dead wren tied on the bush. Then they go from house to house singing this song ;
    The wren the wren,
    the king of all birds.
    St. Stephens day he was
    caught in the furze.
    Although he is little his
    family is great.
    Rise up you young ladies and give us a treat.
    But if the treat be of the best,
    I hope in heave your soul will rest,
    But if you fill it of the small,
    It won't agree with us boys at all,
    We followed this wren from rock to rock,
