    The griddle was a round shaped piece of iron and they used to it up on an iron called a "brand" to bake the cake.

    This the Christmas pudding used in olden times in country houses. Mashed potatoes were mixed with flour and currants. When baked it was allowed four hours to cool then it was sliced and fried in butter
