    the people had to mix Indian meal with the ground wheat. This was supposed to be the healthiest bread that ever was used in Ireland. At Christmas the people made a large cake which they called a Christmas cake. This cake was wet with porter and in it was put all sorts of fruit. At Easter they made a special cake of cream. eggs and butter.
