  1. This national school was built in 1874. My parents do not remember any other school in this district. The priests brought the children to the old chapel, which was on the Bleach, to teach them their prayers and catechism.Most of them could neither read nor write except one here and there.
    There were schools in Limerick and some of the young boys walked there to school for a couple of years. One of the school girls told me that there was an old school in Glenagross and that her own grandmother went to school there.
