  1. This district had many castles in the old days.
    There was one in Castle-park near my house. This castle was occupied by the Williamites when they had succeeded in hunting the "Wild Geese." Another castle was on the borders of Cratloe and Meelick. The remains of both may still be seen.
    A family named Punch live in the famous castle of Cratloe to-day so that part of it is well preserved. They say that there was a castle here in the Crag and that gold and golden ornaments are hidden there.
