    Marriages.
May and August are unlucky months in which to marry. November is the lucky month
Wednesday is a lucky day.Friday is unlucky .it is unlucky to marry in green.
In the old times hereabouts people were married in their own homes. "Straw boys"attended the wedding then. They were usually men who were not invited to the wedding. They dressed themselves in straw and attended the wedding at which they were welcomed .
When people get married they give fourpence to each poor person who comes to the house
"When will you be giving us the fourpence ?"is a question of frequent occurrence.
