    went into the desert and there alone (he) with wild beasts he fasted and prayed and prepared his soul for the great work which the Lord had given him to do.
    His food consisted of locust and wild honey. He drank no wine or strong drink. When he was about thirty years of age he went along the Jordan, baptizing and preaching the law and commandments of God to the people. Thousands of people flocked to him because they thought he was Our Lord. When some of them found that he was not Our Lord they went away and would not listen to him.
