  1. The bonfire night comes on the twenty fourth night of June. It is kept in honour of St. John because on that night he was beheaded. Other people say that it was a custom of the druids. In some villages all the boys gather together and each bring a bag of turf and they light a big fire. The old people take coals and throw them on their crops in order that they would be good. They also go round it and do the Stations of the Cross in honour of St. John. When they
