    leave three saucers on the table, water is put in one clay in another and a ring in the third. The person who leaves his hand in the one with the water will be the first to cross the sea, and in the one with the clay he will be the first to die, and in the one with the ring he will be the first to get married. It was also a great custom of the Irish people to bring cabbage and leave it at the door of some poor person that had none.
