    And telegrams went near and far Lord Leitrim is shot.
    Through mountains, woods and valleys the police did serenade.
    To try if they could find them out eight or nine arrests were made.
    Taken on suspicion as pain as you can see.
    They had no proof against them and four or five of them got free.
    Had he been like his noble father he might be living still.
    Kind hearted to his tenants and loved by one and all.
    And for his loss they mourned when death did on him call.
    There is one remark I have to make before these lines i end.
    There are a few more boys on trial I hope God will stand their friend.
