  2. Boil a pint of stout add sugar or pepper and drink hot a great cure for a pain the stomach or cold. For people suffering from anaemia I have seen iron filings added and allowed to remain the stout for some time and then boiled strained sweetened with sugar and taken hot.

  3. Peel and grate the potatoes. Squeeze the grated potatoes in a cloth and wring. Let the water rest awhile, strain off and a sediment of starch will be found at the bottom suitable for starching clothes.
