- There is a field between Ballycroy and Shrathmore called the Mass Hill. In the Penal days priests were hunted down and shot. There was a price of five pound for any one who would kill a priest and cut off his head. The priests had to go around saying Mass in the caves in the mountains. Sometimes they used be caught and themselves and the people used be shot. In the Mass Hill there was a big cave for saying Mass. A priest used(continues on next page)
