An old-saying around this district is "It went round like the knight of the Wisps". This saying is usually applied to a story, which travelled quickly from one person to another.

Like the three Paddy Lees. This is usually applied to people who cannot walk together, for the three Paddy Lees who were three tramps could never walk together.

"Hundred Petticoats" was an old beggar woman who was very fond of wearing plenty of clothes.
