- There are two holy wells in this parish, one is in Cloonmore and the other in Hawksford. People visit these on Saturdays from the fifteenth of August until the eighth of September. There is rounds preformed at these wells and prayers said and if a person had a swelled foot or hand they rubbed the water on it and it is said that when they had the third round preformed the swelling would be gone. The water is never used for household purpose but people who come praying (is it) brought a bottle of it home with them. It is not specially recommended for the care of any certain disease accept for a swelling. People have not been cured of any disease. Invalids usually drink the water out of the well and rub it on the affected part.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
