    The Funeral
    The remains were taken from the house on the shoulders of four men...the same surname as the deceased....these same four carried the remains from the graveyard gate to the grave side. The coffin was laid down outside on chains or forms and the women "cried them." The chains or forms of the coffin was taken from them...thrown down flat and left there..."after night fall." The coffin was carried either shoulder high or...strong straw ropes (súgáin) by ? men. If there were two usual ways a funeral followed the longer. The wa...came to be called "fóidín na..." as the small road leading in to...grave yard was and is called "bót...na gcorp." Occasionally the súgain and the coffin came to the ground...
