    There is a fort in this district. The people call it a fort. It is in the village of Cloongee and the parish of Toomore and about two miles south of Foxford. There is no fort in sight of it. It is round and there is a mound of earth around it. There is not a hole in the middle. It was the Danes that built it for protection in time of war. When they would see their enemies coming they would go up on the top of the fort and start firing bows and arrows.
