In a month's time they scatter manure on the ridges. If the people have drills they sometimes manure the land before they drill it. When the manure is scattered on the ridges the "seochs" are scuffed. Then they put the first-mould on the potatoes. Afterwards they "plant" them. Drills are always moulded with the plough.
In some parts of Ireland especially in the south the people "hack" the ground with an implement called the "gríobhán" in order to make the ground fine for setting potatoes. The "gríobhán" is not used in this(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
