- In summer, the people go to the seaside, and they pull mulish, and carrigeen. They spread the carrigeen on a clean cloth and leave it out under the sun to dry. When dry they boil it in new milk and it is said that it is very healthy to use, especially for delicate people. They also gather periwinkles, barnuchs, crabs and lobsters.
The periwinkles and barnnuchs are boiled and picked out of their shells and are then eaten with potatoes, they make a grand dinner. Crabs and lobsters are roasted in the fire.- Collector
