- Long ago the zasurs and grown-up boys in Gallowshill used to go around gathering money on St. Stephen's Day.
They first killed a little wren and then dressed themselves up. They got straw hats and put the blinds of the windows on their faces.
Then they used to travel from house to house asking for money "to bury the wren" and singing the following verse:
"The wren, the wren,
The king of all birds,
On St. Stephen's Day,
He was caught in the furze.
Although he is small,
His family is large,
