    married a sister of Tony More Kilbrides and as a fortune he got the custom of three fairs each year.
    The fairs were very good for horses, cattle and sheep and much larger than the fair held now in Crossmolina. Buyers came from all over and stocker were disposed of just the same as they are now. Every man branded his stock with his initials. They got this brand made from a blacksmith and heated it in the fire and left it on the horns of their cattle and on the trotters of the sheep. There were no polley cattle in the district then. Cows that were bought were tied around a cart until the people would be going home and the cattle that were not sold
