- There are many animals on our farm, two cows, twenty-four bonhams and one store pig, sixteen cows, fifteen sheep, three horses and four foals. We also keep a sheep-dog to hunt the cows and sheep.
All the cows have got names, except two. White Legs, High Horn, Red, The Rowan Cow, Short Horn, Nancy Lad, Thelma, White Face, Twiny, White Cow, Pearl, Spot, Smiddy.
One can hear the call of my father driving the cows "How! How! How!"
One can hear my mother calling the calves to their milk "Sucky, Sucky".
The place where the cows are kept is called the stall or the cow-house. The stall is built of stones with a sheet-iron roof and a stone floor. The cows are tied by means of bails.
My father has one hundred and eighty five acres of land. On it he keeps seven horses.
