- The noggin a wooden vessel which was used as a bowl is at present used in country districts. There were various sizes of noggins. The smallest measure holding about a quart was made in same shape as our tub but there was one stave longer than the rest which was used as a handle. They had generally hoops of rod to keep them in place.
Stopes were wooden vessels used for carrying water. They were round and long and had a handle.
Ceaps were used as dishes. They were also made of wood.
Firkins or Butts were in use for storing butter in them. They were shaped like a bucket & made of wood fitted with a lid. The firkins when filled with butter were brought to the town on market days and sold there. There was a butter market in Ardara held every Tuesday.- Bailitheoir
