- Saint Brigid's Eve falls on the last day of January. On that day rushes are cut and left until nightfall. When it begins to get dark the rushes are brought in, then someone goes round the house on the outside three times and each time he comes to the door he say "Go on your knees open your eyes and let in Brigid." The people in the house answer, "She is welcome."
Then the rushes are brought in and blessed with holy water and the crosses are made. There is a cross put above every door in the house. There is one put in the byre and in all the outside houses.- Bailitheoir
