Then the groom took his bride his
    to his own house.
People were superstitious then and thought it very lucky for the bride to wear something old and something new and something borrowed and something blue. The brides all wore white veils.
People thought and still think that it is lucky to get married in some colours as the rhyme says:
Married in red and you will wish yourself dead.
Married in black and you will wish yourself back.
Married in while you will always do right.
Married in yellow you will be ashamed of your fellow.
Married in blue you will always be true.
Married in gray you will live far away.
Married in brown you will live out of town.
Married in green you will be ashamed to be seen.
Most marriages take place before lent. There are some months and if any marriages take place in them they will be lucky but May is an unlucky month.
