Some are called "settle-beds," and others are called "boarded-in" beds, The "settlebed" is what one might call a very large box. It is in two halves with hinges on it, and can be folded up when not in use. In this position it makes a good seat for the kitchen.
When it is required as a bed, all you have to do is to unfasten two clasps that are on the sides, and the bed drops down to the floor. It is a safe bed for children, for once they are wrapped up, there is no danger of their falling out.
