- There were three men famous for jumping in Ballindavoe. Their names were Seamus Mc Gonigle, Eamon Ruddy, Phelmy Doherty, Eamon Ruddy could at a running jump clear a twelve foot plank on level ground, back and forth. He was a famous swimmer also. He could perform all kinds of feats in the water and carry a man of 14 stones on his back.
Seamus Mc Gonigle was also a famous jumper he could jump the twelve foot plank too and jump 49 feet at a hop step and also clear the high jump of seven feet.
