A Song
“Its fare you well dear Isle of Deegh, a long and fond adieu...”
A Song
(1)
Its fare you well dear Isle of Doagh.
A long and fond adieu.
And likewise to your hills and dales
I ofttimes stood to view.
Your admiring scenes and fertile greens
And your lovely sand-bank shore
From that ancients Castle at Carrickbraghy
To the point of Doaghmore.
(2)
Although your shores lie towards the north
And are washed by the Atlantic tide.
The bear no cold but most pleasant behold
I must confess with pride.
Your eastern shore through cragg
Are worthy of grand praise.
When the early sun at a pleasant dawn
Sends forth his pleasant rays.

In the centre stands our National School
Where my childhood days I spent
With my comrades one and all
I was happy and content
Many years have passed since I have stopped
But my pleasure seems to flow.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
