- About forty or fifty years ago Caman was a favourite game of the Irish people.Caman resembled to a great extent the present game of hurling only that the sticks were not the same and as many as wished could take part in a game of Caman while only fifteen or seventeen at the most can take part in a game of hurling.Caman was played with sticks and a little wooden ball called a nagg.The sapplings with which the sticks were made were got in abundance in Goery Rocks, a place near the little village of Malin. The best kind of sapplings was hazel. The straight saplings were put into a pot of boiling chaff and let boil until they were able to be slightly turned.
