The Local Forge
Skerries, Co. DublinThere are two forges in the town of Skerries. One of them is situated in the middle of the town and the blacksmith name is Mr. William Morning. The other is situated on the Rush Road and the smith's name is Mr. Thomas Morgan. The town blacksmith only shoes horses, donkeys, and ponies and makes the rims of cart-wheels. But the Rush Road smith makes ploughs, harrows, gates, iron crosses and shoes horses, donkeys, and ponies. The town forge has a slated roof and the other has a thatched roof.
