Farmers and workmen often went to work for an hour before breakfast. In former times their tables were hanged to the wall and supported by a stick. At this kind of table three could sit. When the table was not in use it was let down hanging along the wall. The bread was made in pot ovens with fire under and over them. This bread was made from home grown wheat. In former times people use to eat stirabout before going to bed. Some people used to drink boiled buttermilk with bread without butter. On Easter Sunday morning people ate three eggs each at breakfast and eggs again for supper. The people used to drink out of mugs before cups became common. The people in this district had puddings at Christmas as long as long as can be remembered. Only the rich people would have cakes.
