All the houses long ago were small.
There was a kitchen at one end of the house and two rooms at the other end.At that time all the houses were thatched and there were no slated houses in the locality. The houses were thatched with wheaten straw or sedge. They grew the wheaten straw themselves and they found the sedge in boggy land.
