Ar an leathanach seo

Meat was not eaten often long ago.
The meat which was used by the people was usually fresh, the people used to kill their own young bullocks and pigs. The meat oftenest used was bacon veal or deer which at that time were found wild and were much more plentiful than they are now. Alot of fish were eaten namely herring, cod, trout perch.
The vegetables used were turnips, cabbage onions and parsnips.
People took their supper early in the evening and did not eat anything till morning. Oatmeal bread was commonly used. Loaf-bread, biscuits were used only on special occasions.
Tea was used about 100 years ago and but only on special occasions namely Xmas and on other feasts.
The vessels which were used before cups were noggins. These articles were made of clay baked in the sun untill very hard there were no handles attached to them and while(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
