- John Mc Loughlin. Clogs were worn locally in my district in former times and are still worn by some of the old people.Clogs were not made or repaired locally but I often saw them worn. Some of the poorer people wear them still in the winter. It is said they are very healthy but they are very hard worn. They are very dry and they let in no water. There are wooden soles on them and they do not bend. Leather was not made in the district in former times. Footcoverings of sheep-skin were never worn in the district. There are no sayings or proverbs connected with it.
