The article to be coloured was first of all washed clean and was thoroughly wet before being put into the liquid, and was boiled for about half an hour.
The article was then taken out and swilled in clean water. It was then dried and was a nice brown colour. - Another method of dyeing was with ivy leaves. These were also boiled in water and the articles were boiled in the liquid.
A black or dark green colour was obtained. - [-]
