- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)ago this place was known as Corbuile. It is said that all the cows of the district used to go and be milked there every evening. Kiltycarney:
Is a townland three miles south of Carrick-on-Shannon. Long ago it is believed that there was a large castle there, the foundation of which is still to be seen. Leading up to it is a lane about a half mile long. No family lives near that spot as it is a very marshy place.
Around the remains of the castle are many fruit trees, especially nut trees and flowers. Kiltycarney is said to mean the "Wood of the Nuts."(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
