- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)a direct line between Fenagh and Drumsna as would the other well in Drumgowla which I have written up some pages back. But I am inclined to think that St Patrick did cross the Shannon at Battle Bridge near the village of Leitrim, because from inquiries I have made I learned that stones in the river near Leitrim are still called "Patrick's Stones" and are thought to have been the stones stepped on by the Saint while crosing the river. And I may mention that when a new Catholic Church was being built in Drumboylan Co Roscommon some 10 years ago, one of those stones was taken from the Shannon and laid in the foundation. However; Owen McGann was obstinate in his statement about Drumsna saying he heard it from the old People.
