- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)In another place in this book will be found descriptions of famous hurling and football matches, duels, deeds of athletic prowess, and battles that took place there. There was an old road called Cromwells road through the meadow and fairs and markets were held there many years ago.
GUBBSNa Guib. The peaks. A townland of high altitude and containing several small hills. There is a very large bog in this part.
There is in Drimloughan a Mass Rock where Mass was said in the Penal Days. Also in Mount Ida there is a castle or cave of 3 large stones called (Leabaidh Gráine) Graine lived there when she came to this part of the country. They say Finn MaCool built this strange house for his mother. When I was young people used to steal convenient to it of a Hallow Eve night to see sights that were very strange. There is also a forth here where poteen was made. I remember to see a body of men called "Stillhunters" out through this country in search of it, shortly before they were disbanded and just before the old R.I.C. came to this part.
