- About fifty years ago, Father O'Connor, the Parish Priest of Ballybunion, got a sick call one night to the townland of Gullane. He had to cross a river a little distance from the main road. He was riding a horse which was the custom in those days. When he came to the river he met a sow which attacked him and tried to stop him but the priest persevered and after a long struggle passed it and attended the dying person. About five minutes after the priest leaving the person died. On his return he was attacked in the same place. He got the better of the sow again. He galloped the horse and as fast as the horse was going the sow(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
