- There are not many holy wells
in my district. I only
know of two wells. One is
situated in the townland
of Cooladrummon in Mr Siggins
land convenient to my own
home. At the battle of
Cooladrummon it is said that
this is the well from which
St. Columba for water for
his horses and from that time
it was called the holy well.
People travel long
distances on foot to this
well to be cured. There is
a large white trout in this
well when people are suffering
from sore eyes they throw
in bread crumbs. If the trout
appears and eats up the
crumbs they go home with
the hope of getting better
but if not they go home failed(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
