- The wild birds found in our district are the pheasant, woodcock, grouse, snipe, lapwing, golden plover, wild duck, moorhen and curlew but grouse are very scarce for the past three years. I live in a mountainous district and the shooting is strictly preserved by a Mr Berridge, who rented Hazelwood House until a year ago. My father is the keeper + Mr Berridge had some friends out shooting last week. They got good bags of woodcock, snipe and pheasants.
