- Our farm animals are three cows three calves, two goats, a donkey, and three pigs. W call one cow "The black cow," the other "The blue cow" and the other "The Polly." When my father is driving the cows he says "Howey, hower, howey". After the cows are milked the calves are fed. If the calces are at the bottom of the field my father says "Suck, suck, suck" and they run up to him.
The huse in which the cows are tied at night is called the byre or cowhouse. At one end of the house the cows are tied. There is a long plank across the house from side to side and the chains which tie the cows are attached to it.
When a calf dies it is customary to cut off his two front feet and hang them up in the cow house to bring good luck. Before the cow is milked for the first time after calving a penny and a quenched coal(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
