The wren builds his nest in a sceagh with the thorns so close that the birds can not get near it to destroy it and kill him. He makes the nest with moss wool and feathers. First of all he puts the moss round a nice part of the tree and makes two wee holes just large enough to put your finger in, to get in quickly in case of danger, and lines it with the wool and feathers.
The sparrow is a little bird not as small as the wren and of a faun colour. He builds his nest in a little tree or hedge. He makes a round nest of hay, straw and small splinters of wood and lines the inside with wool, feathers and little bits of paper to make it soft.
The robin is a small bird of a brown colour and a red spot on his breast.
There is a tale how he got this red spot.
