- Aibreán 28adh 1938. The road which runs from Sligo to Ballyfarnon is known as the Sligo road. There is a road running past St. James’s Well which is known as the St. James’s Well road. The “Rock” road joins the Sligo with the St. James’s Well road and is so called because there is a rock situated near the road. The “Mill” road runs from the “Sligo” road to Riverstown and is so called because it was on it the farmers brought the corn to the mill which was beyond Riverstown. The Green road connects the St James’s Well road with Sheridan’s road which is so called because Sheridan’s was the only house on that road. The Green road is so called on account of the green grass which is growing there. Almost all of these roads were made during the Famine times. My grandfather worked on the Rock road which was made at Relief works and received eight pence per day as wages. The Raval road which runs through the townland of Rathmulpatrick, was not made until the year eighteen eighty(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
